I replaced you

I replaced you with my books

They speak to me

But do not talk back to me

They engage me and

Take me away for a while

From the pain that living brings

From my love of things

And people who don’t care

For me

Yet my thoughts keep turning back to you

Without you I try many things

But I do not know what to do

With myself

As many dark strangers

These days do to you

I replaced you with an xbox 360

And a PS3 too to amuse me

But my thumbs soon grew cramped

Sure as once my fingers had done

I grew fat

And I grew dumb

And I sat and smiled

And bested my high score in a while
